Linda May showed up to work yesterday with her latest project complete in time for Halloween. Dancing With Bats is the name of the pattern by Dandelion Seed Design. Linda May was intrigued with the idea of a batik Halloween wall hanging when the pattern came into the shop.
We were all thrilled with the results as it’s different to her typical fun, cute style projects like Home is Where the Haunt Is which she previously made.
This project is fusible applique so it came together fairly quickly. She had fun with the quilting as well replicating bats into the design. Have a look.
Once again Hamels Fabrics will be participating the Chilliwack Christmas Craft Crawl. This year it will be held November 25th, 26th & 27th. If you’ve never attended or heard of this event the Craft Crawl is a shopping event which has you visit eight unique local businesses. At each you have a chance to enter for a prize and while you are there receive a stamp in your Craft Crawl passport. Your completed passport is your entry for a grand prize made up of fabulous gifts from each of the Craft Crawl vendors.
You can get more information on each of the participating businesses and the Crawl itself on the website. Don’t forget to visit the Facebook page for a weekly chance to win a gift certificate to spend during the event.
Besides shopping in a relaxed, Christmas atmosphere our Crawl businesses and customers raise funds for a local charity. Together we raised over $1,700 last year. Please consider donating at any of the stops during the Craft Crawl to help Cyrus Centre continue to help the youth in our community.

Wishing you all some quilty goodies this Halloween!
We have yet another darling “Little Quilts Squared” pattern by The Wooden Bear. This time we are sharing October Scare which is a whimsically styled jack-o’-lantern and his friendly little eight legged friends.
As with previous “Little Quilts Squared” projects this quilt is appliquéd with fusible web and machine blanket stitched. The eyes on both the jack-o’-lantern and the spiders are tiny buttons which can be purchased separately in a package here. The border is made up of scrappy squares in coordinating colours. Again this is a great little project to put your bits and pieces to good use as the entire quilt is twelve inches square when complete.
If you want a pattern for yourself you can find it HERE.
Brenda has been stitching away on some Halloween projects. She’s just completed the first of two Trick or Treat wall quilts. She used flannel bits from her stash as mostly small pieces were required for this easy fusible appliqué project. She used a machine sewn buttonhole stitch for the edges of the appliqués as to keep the project timeline short and sweet.
The bewitched jack o’ lantern, friendly crow and black kitty are front and centre of this design.
Brenda added the embroidered button spider of her own creation as a whimsical addition to the project and it is adorable.
This Halloween cutie is far from spooky and will make a fun addition to your seasonal decor. This pattern is by Cottage Creek Quilts and can be found by clicking on the image below.
