Sew and Tell….Vendor’s Apron

As many of you know I don’t quilt so much these days. Others are surprised that I work at a quilt shop and haven’t made a quilt in years. I do however still sew even if it is only occasionally. I tend to produce smaller projects that I can complete within several small chunks of time. The majority of my projects are gifts so I don’t really have any recent projects in my possession.  This apron is no exception. It was stitched as a request by a good friend who spends many summer evenings and weekends in market booths. She asked for an apron that has a zippered compartment and in her business colours grey and teal. I used Flow fabrics by Zen Chic for Moda.

The pattern is not my own. I found a DIY and made a few small changes such as the length, the size and application of the ties and spacing of the pockets. You can find the original DIY instructions and pattern here.

This pattern has some really great features such as the snap pocket, business card holder and the zippered pocket which is perfect for storing cash and keeping it secure.snap pocketcard holder pocketApron close upzippered pocket

So there you have it, proof I do sew 🙂

  1. Hi –

I really like your adaptation of this pattern much better than the original. Would you consider making me 2 – one for my husband and one for me. We do craft shows all summer and could really use these. As a matter of fact my husband loves this apron. I would be happy to pay you and would not rush you too much as I would not need them until mid June.

    Thanks for your consideration –

  2. Hi Kathy,

I am in agreement with Karen. I would like to order one as well as I am just starting out in craft faire. No rush either. But my colors are blue, royal blue and yellow. Any pattern would work as long the colors are there. Would you be able to help?

    • Thank you for the compliment Kim. I’m flattered you like the apron enough to inquire about ordering. I don’t sew as a business and this apron was custom made for a friend. As mentioned in the post I don’t have much time to sew these days so will not be taking orders. ~Kathy

  3. Hi Kathy,
I really like the changes you made to the original pattern. I have down loaded the original and am having issues with it. By chance did you make a pattern/instructions for yours? I am willing to pay for the pattern, plus mailing.

    thank you!

    • Hi Donna, Thank you for the compliment. Unfortunately I no longer have the notes for the adjustments I made. There are definitely times like these that I wish I had held onto them. ~Kathy
