Meet Pauline, Our “Quilt Shop Queen”. Pauline is Hamel’s owner and has been involved with the family business for over 30 years. Originally owned by her mother, she took over the store and continued to grow the fabric dream store to what you see today. She has been quilting and sewing since she was 12 years old. Civil War fabrics are her favorite. Rag Snips by Heritage Cutlery is her favorite notion. Pauline states, “A person can make do with a lot of things, but when it comes to snipping a rag quilt, these are a must.” Being the boss is what she likes best about owning Hamels. When it comes to her sewing space, (when she finds time to sew”), she is in the process of creating a new sewing studio. Due to home renovations, she currently has no sewing space. However, a brand new creative space is part of the renovations. She is very excited for the completion. She says, “Although these days I don’t have much time for sewing, due to running a business and traveling the country for Quilt Shows, she is looking forward to more quilting in her second life.” If you have ever had the privilege to meet or talk with Pauline, you will know how passionate she is about fabric and people. Her motto in life is, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” You can read more about Pauline “The Quilt Shop Queen”, by Clicking Here to read the featured article published in the Chilliwack Progress.
